Sophie Penman is a 26-year-old multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Scotland, her songwriting, piano and guitar styles informed by the likes of Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt. Her music is a blend of catchy melodies, emotive lyrics and soulful harmonies. Trained as a classical violinist and singer, she also draws on influences from classical music and stays true to her roots through Scottish folk influences.
Sophie has played across the country and abroad, with highlights including The Pheasantry in London, BBC 4 Loose Ends Live in Stirling, Perth Festival of the Arts, Aberdeen True North Sessions, the Edinburgh Castle and MiCannes in Cannes, France. Sophie released her debut album ‘Written in the Books’ with Metro 13 Records in Edinburgh in 2023 and is now based Glasgow, where she is working towards the release of her new song "Albert Street" and receiving mentorship through the Hen Hoose musicians collective.
