Sophie Penman is a 26-year-old multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from Scotland, her songwriting, piano and guitar styles informed by the likes of Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt. Her music is a blend of catchy melodies, emotive lyrics and soulful harmonies. Trained as a classical violinist and singer, she also draws on influences from classical music and stays true to her roots through Scottish folk influences.

She has performed across the UK and abroad, with appearances at The Pheasantry in London, BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends Live in Stirling, Perth Festival of the Arts, Aberdeen True North Sessions, Edinburgh Castle and MiCannes in Cannes, France. In 2023, she released her debut album, Written in the Books, through Metro 13 Records. More recently, while receiving mentorship through the Hen Hoose Collective, she released her independently produced single Albert Street in 2025.

Now based in Edinburgh, Sophie is writing and recording new music for her forthcoming EP while continuing to perform throughout Scotland and beyond.
